For their February 2011 issue, Harper’s Magazine asked four agencies to rebrand the US government by way of a Superbowl commercial. We worked with Goodby, Silverstein & Partners on the creation of a site to support the spot they developed for the assignment. The TV spot focused on how the Federal Government provides and protects freedom for citizens – and the notion that “Wherever they live, people can speak their minds. But there are very few places they can actually get away with it.” The spot ends with a super driving people to FreedomFilter.us.
The site provides context for freedom on a global scale – specifically freedom of religion, press and speech. Site visitors can explore interactive maps related to these three freedoms to see how countries around the globe fare in relation to the US and other Western democracies.
The site also contains a section called “The Conversation”, a forum where users are asked to exercise their right to freedom of speech to discuss divisive topics, such as Pornography, WikiLeaks and The Westboro Baptist Church.
Check out the site at FreedomFilter.us and pick up the February 2011 issue of Harper’s Magazine for the full story.
